The race came alive on lap two when five riders established the day's breakaway: Kee Zhe Yie (Terengganu Cycling Team), Yujin Sumita (VC Fukuoka), Hijiri Oda (Aisan Racing Team), Kazuto Minami (Aisan Racing Team), and Mountains Classification leader Francesco Carollo (Swatt Club).

The five riders built an advantage of approximately 1 minute 20 seconds. However, a crash in the leading group during lap nine split the breakaway, leaving only Minami and Carollo at the front.

As the race entered lap ten, Points Classification leader Tommaso Dati (TEAM UKYO) launched an attack from the peloton. His acceleration increased the pace considerably, and with 37km remaining the final breakaway riders were brought back. Dati immediately attempted another solo move, but the peloton remained attentive and prevented him from gaining a decisive advantage.

Benjamin Prades Reverter (VC Fukuoka), who started the day second overall at three seconds behind the leader, finished third at the sprint and collected a one-second time bonus, keeping his hopes of overturning the general classification alive.

Stage Winner – Lucas Carstensen (KINAN Racing Team)
“I suffered throughout the whole week. Yesterday I thought I might be able to do something, but it was difficult, so Tokyo became my main target. The only thing I did today was stay behind my teammates and recover. With 700 meters to go I was around 20th position and had to move up. I accelerated once with 500 meters remaining and then had to start my sprint with 300 meters to go. I thought it was too far, but I had no choice. It was probably a 30-second sprint, and for the last five seconds I was simply hanging on. I wasn't sure if I had won, so I'm very happy to take the victory.”

General Classification Winner (Green Jersey) – Matteo Fabbro (Solution Tech NIPPO Rali)
“TOJ is a great race and I really enjoyed racing here. I would love to come back. The secret to winning? Just beat your rivals! (laughs) Of course, that's a joke. The Mt. Fuji Stage was the key stage, and the most important thing was not losing time on the other stages. That's how you win this race. But I have to say, the Mt. Fuji Stage was incredibly hard.”

Points Classification Winner (Blue Jersey) – Tommaso Dati (TEAM UKYO)
“My next goal is the Italian National Championships, and I dream of competing in the Olympic Games in 2032. The toughest stage of this year's Tour was definitely the Mt. Fuji Stage.”

Mountains Classification Winner (Red Jersey) – Francesco Carollo (Swatt Club)
“Looking back on the race, the opening stage was difficult because I wasn't in my best condition. And of course, Mt. Fuji was extremely demanding. My next goal is the Italian National Championships. Recently, I started working as a mechanic at our team's service course, so my main objective now is simply to continue enjoying cycling.”

Best Young Rider (White Jersey) – Will Heath (CCACHE X BODYWRAP)
“In the future I want to race more in Europe and see how much my confidence and abilities can continue to develop. This year, I hope to compete in the Tour de L'avenir. For me, the toughest stage of this Tour was the Inabe Stage.”

Overall we are very pleased with our achievement this year at Tour of Japan, our initial target was stage podium but with the strong competition it was difficult, so we focused on performing the best on the Queen stage Fujisan by our top climbers - with two finished in top-10 positions which then secured us the best Team Classification. This award is the result of hard work and commitment of the team throughout the Tour. Many thanks to our fans in Japan, our sponsors and families for their endless support and to the TOJ Organization for having us!
